"power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely." It was quoted by John Emerich Edward Dalberg Acton or simply known as Lord Acton, English historian and moralist in 18 century. Personally, I see it more clearly in today's world. Struggle for power has left mankind to ignore their basic conscience and heed to whatever course available in order to obtain it. Quest for power, will never end. Yet few know, that 'knowledge is power'.
One who get used to have power can't lead a normal life if he lost it. He will resort to any means to get it back. By hook or by crook. This obsession become his primary objective. Nothing can stop his greed and lust for power except his death.
In politic, similar thing happen. People with power seldom become what they used to be before the power imposed to them. With power come great responsibility, and not many can hold dear to that. No ordinary people should hold the power yet most people think they are the right person to have it. Power if fallen to the wrong hand will be devastating. Einstein himself regretted to have indirectly involved in the 'Manhattan Project' which resulted in death of thousand of people following the bombing in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
History especially like the above should not be repeated. No power is everlasting except to our mightiest God. We too should learn how to step down and give a chance to other people to hold the power. Who knows, it is the smartest move we have ever made.
